CARTOON CROSSROADS COLUMBUS
Spotlight this Saturday Sept. 21, 1-1:50, Columbus Metropolitan Library
CXC runs this Thursday- Sunday in downtown Columbus, Ohio, and it’s FREE. I’m looking forward to hearing Dav Pilkey, of Dogman and Captain Underpants fame, and checking out SOL-Con, the Black and Brown Comix Expo. There will also be panels by Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonists!
WHY SO FEW WOMEN ON THE COMICS PAGE?
I answer that old chestnut in an essay appearing in the funny new Nancy comics collection, out Oct 1. (Ask your local bookstore to order it for you, or choose an online retailer here.)
But… you can read the essay in full at the end of this post!
COME VISIT ME AT MY STUDIO NOV. 9 & 10
Brushworks, the former toothbrush factory where I have my studio, has its annual Open Studio event every 2nd weekend of November. 50+ artists and craftspeople open their doors for folks to check out their spaces and buy local. There’s a ton of talent here at 221 Pine St. in Florence, MA. I always make a special color comic book just for the occasion, and this year it’s… Creature Comics- Cartoons About Animals! Over 40 fan favorites about your furry and feathery friends.
CreatureComics won’t be available until Open Studios, but you can order past titles in the meantime: CanineComics, CataComics, Kin-o-Comics and Hanukkomics.
